Re: [backpackers-140] Truchas Peak Extended Weekend Trip Options

Just one note Bob.  The day hike to any of the peaks other than North Truchas would be more in the 16+ mile range.  That's why I wanted to get up closer.  I've already been to North Truchas.   Good to offer the option though.  North Truchas is pretty cool.

Hi Everyone,

Since we've got a number of vacant spots on this weekend's backpacking trip I thought I'd throw an option out there.  I've gotten a few emails about people wanting to attend but not being able to get Friday off yet not feeling "up to" the more difficult hike Keith is offering.  If you'd like to attend you could go up Friday night and camp with Keith's group at the campground, start hiking Saturday morning with his group and then set up camp when you get to our group which will be camped along the trail about 6 miles in.  You then have the options of doing the day hike up to the peaks (about 13 miles round trip), doing a shorter version only part way up to the divide or just lazing around in camp.  You've also got the option of heading back to the car on Sunday instead of with the rest of us on Monday.

It's a beautiful area, only a moderate hike, scenic backcountry camping spot and at this point the forecast looks great!
