Just about everything in the "We're about:" section... ("Sports & Recreation · Exercise and Fun · Outdoor Recreation · Meeting New People · Camping · Hiking · Backpackers · Kayaking · Adventurers · Rock Climbing · Bicycling")
I am a Senior Ocean/Mechanical Engineer, and work in mechanical systems design for subsea instrumentation used to find oil and gas offshore. I plan to "retire" later in life into a career in theoretical particle physics or cosmology after getting a PhD in the subject.
I'm an engineer and a big nerd about technology, engineering, and, especially, physics and cosmology.
My favorite place to camp and hike growing up was the Appalachian Mountains. Since moving to New Orleans, my favorite areas that I've been hiking and camping so far has been Chicot State Park near Bunkie, LA, but there are a lot of places I haven't been yet. In the immediate New Orleans area, I really like Audubon Park and play volleyball and football there with friends. I like City Park as well, but it's not as close or as nice, although much bigger.
My father was a very "outdoors" person who grew up in a small town in the northeast and was always in the woods camping, fishing, and hunting. I played sports at a very young age and later joined a Boy Scout troop that went camping once a month; often 3 day hikes and canoe trips.
Both my girlfriend and I have always been active with various outdoor activities, including sports, hiking, camping, biking, and canoeing/kayaking.
