EVENT DETAILS…

Whether you are visiting our beautiful city, coming from a lesson, or just have the day off...come on out and hit with us! We are a group of tennis enthusiasts (experienced levels from 3.0 and up to 6.0), that have the fundamental parts of the game down and like to hit against different styles of play.

WHY PLAY HERE…

This is one of the most beautiful parks to play tennis in Manhattan! It’s a serene location with courts right on the water with restrooms and drinking fountains available for all to use during the season.

COST: As you can imagine...the one thing we do go through a lot is tennis balls! All we ask is you bring 5 cans of new tennis balls or pay the equivalent $15 (via Paypal or Venmo) if we provide them. Used balls are donated to youth organizations or doggie camps :)

RSVP’s & ATTENDANCE…

Due to the large number of members and limited court availability…all RSVP’s need to be made in advance. In the event you need to cancel your RSVP, please be courteous and do so NO LATER than a 48 hour window so it gives wait-listed people enough time to be notified so they can play.

Please arrive 15 min early to check in and get ready to play. We ask this as a professional courtesy to others who have RSVP’d and are looking forward to playing ON TIME. If you think you will be running late...you can communicate this to the group using the "comments" section on your mobile Meetup App or Browser. These steps have been put in place to make sure all those attending will have a great time.

All other questions or concerns should be directed to "contact" organizer and NOT the comments section. Misuse of the comments section will not be tolerated. The group doesn't reserve courts or guarantee you will play at any specific time but most people will arrive at 8 am, 10 am, 12pm and 2pm (note: due to system limitations...these times intervals are solely used to determine who will be arriving so you know who you'll be hitting with).

A great thing to pick up is a day permit ($15) or better yet the yearly tennis permit ($100) (which can be obtained at Central Park, Paragon or online), that will allow you to play on any NYC tennis court, anytime, all year.

DIRECTIONS…

For new players...meet on COURT 9 (closest to path and GWB). Also, please make note of detour (see image above) due to bridge repair.

We are directly south of the George Washington Bridge right on the Hudson River. Best ways to get there are A train, M4 or M98 bus, biking along the river or drive/park Riverside Drive. Please plan an additional 15 minutes for weekend subway schedule delays and note its takes an additional 15 minutes to walk from 181st Street Station to the courts, so please arrive before scheduled slot so everyone can start on time.

• Take the A Train to 181st Street Station, sitting in the back of train
• Follow 181st West passing the UPS store (turns into Plaza Lafayette), to end
• Make a RIGHT, and walk on Riverside Drive to crossover Pedestrian Bridge

WHAT TO BRING...

Other than your racquet (though loaners are available should you break a string), bring water, a towel, hat, sunscreen and GAME!

WEATHER...

Weather is always an unpredictable thing but remember, just because a forecast says 30% chance of showers...that also means 70% chance of no showers. Also, with the 30% it may be in your area, but not where the courts are. Lastly, if it does sprinkle...we have the necessary equipment to dry the courts. Typically rain delays or cancellations will be announced early in the morning.
