What we're about
This group's aim is to regularly hold events where Japanese music fans can sing together in New York.
• One of the few Meetup groups to focus on this particular theme
• The group and the group's events have clear objectives
• Leadership guides events
• Rules are plainly stated and openly available
• Members have skill sets that complement and benefit other members
This is a Japanese karaoke meetup, which means all songs sung should be in Japanese and/or from Japan. Language exchange is encouraged, but remember not to talk over whomever is singing.
Sudden cancelations may cause NYJK to have to pay for those who did not come. If something comes up and you cannot make it, please change your status on the event page to "not going" before the event starts.
The remote should be passed clockwise as quickly as possible, allowing each person one turn. One who arrives late or intentionally enters nothing during his or her turn is not entitled to more turns. If the karaoke system skips an attendee, he or she may enter an extra song on his or her next turn.
Pay the venue staff for the session at the beginning of each event. Never leave an event without checking with the organizer to see if you owe anything.
Please bring ID and sufficient cash with you to all events.
NYJK staff cannot take responsibility for the actions or words of attendees. Please respect the artists and songs selected by attendees. Attendance at NYJK events allows NYJK staff permission to record, photograph, and otherwise use your likeness without monetary compensation. Should any attendee be responsible for loss or destruction of property, the onus of replacement and/or renumeration shall fall to that attendee and not NYJK staff.
We hope to see you soon!
