Pace: moderate to fast
Things to bring: hiking boots, snacks, water and proper winter attire
1) We will be hiking for periods of 1 hour or more without a break, if you take an unscheduled break you run the risk of getting lost during the hike
2) This hike will not have an assigned sweeper so keeping pace is will be the hikers responsibility
3) Keeping pace with the group will be important, if you cannot see the next person in front of you, you are falling behind and run the risk of being lost
Take N.J. Route 17 north to the New York State Thruway ( North towards Albany) and take the first exit, Exit 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto N.Y. Route 17 north, and continue through the Village of Sloatsburg. Just past the village, turn right at the 3rd traffic light on to seven Lakes drive, following the signs for Harriman State Park. Cross an overpass over railroad tracks and continue along the Seven Lakes Drive, passing under the Thruway overpass, and soon entering Harriman State Park. Proceed for another three-quarters of a mile to the Reeves Meadow Visitor Center, on the right side of the road. Park in the Visitor Center’s parking lot or along the right side of the road.
