New Meetup: Sandy Hook Ride & Beginner Yoga Class

From: Erin K.
Sent on: Tuesday, September 7, 2010 12:45 PM
Announcing a new Meetup for The NJ Biking, Eating & Drinking Group!

What: Sandy Hook Ride & Beginner Yoga Class

When: Sunday, October 10,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Hartshorne Woods Park -Rocky Point Entrance
1402 Portland Road
Highlands, NJ 07732
(732)[masked] or 2670

Part of the fun in yoga is exploring new things, so why have it at Mercer Park every time!? I'll be looking for cool parks and venues to hold these yoga/ride events.. so if you have recommended areas, let me know!

Our Sunday rides are going to have a little "OMMM" added to the mix for those with tight hamstrings, hips, shoulders and lower back. And yep, with that mix of complaints, I'm pretty sure that's all of us!! And nope...chanting and crazy flexibility is not required. :)

We'll start with a 22 mile road ride (hybrids, mountain bikes, recumbent and road bikes are all welcome), starting from Hartshorne Woods Park (on the road) down to Sandy Hook, do the loop and back again. Once we've finished our calm, relaxing pedal and warmed up our muscles, we'll relax in the shade at Hartshorne for a 110% easy beginner yoga class. Led by me!

**If you just want to come for yoga, try to be at Hartshorne by 3:30-4PM. And make sure you make that clear when you RSVP, so we know not to wait for you.**

For those who haven't ever taken a yoga class because they can't turn into a "pretzel", this class is for you! And just an FYI, regular yoga practice (whether you can touch your toes or not) will improve your energy level, flexibility and performance, on and off the bike. We'll keep it easy and stick to the same/similar routine so you can become familiar with the poses and use them during the week at home.

If you have a mat, bring it with you. If not, a thick towel also works, and I'll have a few mats available to rent for $1 (cleaning fee!). Looking forward to it! And for those who are curious, I'm training for my yoga certification in Feb at Princeton Center for Yoga & Health and it's a Vinyasa flow practice.

Just a reminder, there is a $20 membership fee for the year. You can pay online or in cash at the next event. Thank you to all who have paid thus far, you're awesome! :)

We also have a no show policy, so PLEASE make sure to update your RSVP if your plans change.
