• Self Sovereign Identity using the Blockchain

    Lisk Center Utrecht

Please use the following Meetup URL to subscribe to this meetup as of this point. The people that already subscribed to this event do not have to change anything. Thank you. https://www.meetup.com/BCNLfoundation/events/257342551/ = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = The Lisk Center Utrecht is very proud to host a Self Sovereign Identity event with great speakers and leading companies in the blockchain industry. Confirmed speakers: - Dr. Phil Windley @ Sovrin https://sovrin.org/team/ - Tey Al-Rjula CEO @ Tykn https://tykn.tech/about/ = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = ‘Sovrin’ most commonly refers to the Sovrin Network, a public service utility enabling self-sovereign identity on the Internet. The Sovrin Network is decentralized, meaning individuals can collect, hold, and choose which identity credentials —such as a driver’s license or employment credential—without relying on individual siloed databases that manage the access to those credentials. = = = = Tykn's identity and access management system allows public and private institutions to issue and verify digital identity credentials. An innovative way to share and request personal data proofs. Users are provided with an app, a digital identity wallet, that works on every mobile device and allows them to digitally access services from those institutions in a private and secure manner. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = The meetup area is held on the 6th floor of the Beatrix building next to Utrecht Central Station. https://www.google.com/maps/@52.0877876,5.1062878,3a,75y,66.49h,117.06t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipO-tary_02xOlaZTkv7HUcFDyFFN8Rbyk6G-G8r!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipO-tary_02xOlaZTkv7HUcFDyFFN8Rbyk6G-G8r%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya98.661606-ro-0-fo100!7i6144!8i3072

  • Is interoperability really the Holy Grail?

    Lisk Center Utrecht

Is interoperability really the Holy Grail? Capgemini is proud to host an evening about Blockchain interoperability. Forbes just released a report showcasing the use of blockchain in 50 real-life scenarios that are happening now. Many of these, especially the larger corporates, are using more than one platform for different parts of their projects and are taking an interesting agnostic approach that was not seen two or three years ago, using a mixture of permissioned and public networks. Is interoperability really the Holy Grail? Or is it simply another step on the way towards some perfect solution which has not yet been designed? - Rhian Lewis Rhian is one of the UK's leading voices in Blockchain and Cryptocurrency: she's a cofounder a consultant and ex-journalist who provides a tantalizing, open-to-all glimpse into a world without centralized power. An avid open source adept, Bas has encountered the do's and dont's in interoperability before and will share his view on the roadmap of the sector. Bas Wisselink Bas Wisselink is an independent blockchain consultant, who has been part the evolution of the blockchain sector for years. Bas worked on the first blockchain MMO Lyth, was a boardmember of the foundation for the blockchain infrastructure NXT, cofounded the Amsterdam Blockchain Workspace and is a trainer at consultancy firm The Fork. He was a Jedi and jury member at the international Odyssey blockchain hackathon in April 2019. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Agenda 19:00 - 19:15 - Welcome/introduction Talk 19:15 - 19:55 - Rhian Lewis/Blockchain Testing Community 19:55 - 20:10 - Coffee break 20.10 - 20:50 - Bas Wisselink/Hybrix 20:50 - 21:00 – Closing Statements = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = The meetup area is held on the 6th floor of the Beatrix building next to Utrecht Central Station. https://www.google.com/maps/@52.0877876,5.1062878,3a,75y,66.49h,117.06t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipO-tary_02xOlaZTkv7HUcFDyFFN8Rbyk6G-G8r!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipO-tary_02xOlaZTkv7HUcFDyFFN8Rbyk6G-G8r%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya98.661606-ro-0-fo100!7i6144!8i3072

  • How blockchain will change the gaming industry!

    Lisk Center Utrecht

In the last decade, we have seen the gaming industry being rapidly transformed by the introduction of new technologies which allow for immersive experiences, such as AI, VR, and AR. However, one of the latest of these emerging technologies — blockchain — is set to redefine the future of gaming by turning what has been seen as a leisure activity into a potentially economic endeavour. In this respect, blockchain looks set to disrupt the gaming industry, and enable a new way for players and developers to interact with gaming platforms. With nearly 70% of the American population playing video games, and with the gaming market forecasted to be worth more than $138 billion by the end of the year, how is blockchain set to transform the gaming industry? • "Beyond Bias: Finding new paths to the truth in algorithmic + tokenomic design"

Good day! We'll be holding a roundtable conversation about "preference-agnostic design" in algorithms and tokenomics. Everybody is trying to calculate the best solutions via machine learning, and incentivize the desired behavior via tokenomics -- but what is the "right" outcome, and according to whom? And instead of that being an individual's decision, what if we could find other ways to design algorithms and tokenenomics -- less based on what "I feel" is the right thing to do, and more based on approximators + heuristics from other walks of life? E.g. Instead of rating online articles according to publishers we prefer, measuring the way people engage with those articles (e.g. how much time readers spend with the article, how readers feel afterwards, what content it leads them to next?) and use those metrics -- independent of the ideas/opinions themselves -- to determine an article's quality? We hope to see you this evening!
