Wat we doen

Near the end of summer special price: $55 per lesson! I will meet or beat any competitor price!!

Home of the original ACA certified recreational kayak instructor in Nashville! I teach private and personalized three hour kayak lessons restricted to groups of five. No large group teaching here! You'll learn how to kayak or improve your skills, and have fun with a small group and one-on-one instruction. I enjoy passing the love of the sport to others and make learning fun! The three hour private instruction class includes how to transport your boat, what to buy (and not buy), and practice your first Oops! with the safety of an instructor on hand.

As of 2018, over 1,400 people ages 8-72 in Tennessee, Alabama, Indiana and Kentucky learned to kayak with Nashville Kayak Lessons. Recreational kayaking is booming and the fun is contagious! Sign up for a hands-on private and personalized kayak lesson with tons of practical and money-saving tips. By the end of the lesson, you will navigate a kayak like you've been doing it for years. That is my promise to you.

I'm an ACA (American Canoe Association) Certified Kayak Instructor and wrote a book, Quiet Water Kayaking: A Beginner's Guide (http://www.amazon.com/Quiet-Water-Kayaking-Beginners-Guide/dp/097269983X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1299029476&sr=8-1) based on the lessons and 17 years experience. Kayak lessons includes all gear at no extra charge. During the lesson, you will try out a variety of kayaks to find the one that suits you perfectly. Also, members practice new skills participating in a group paddle on a calm river.

p.s. I've been asked by students to include this: If you haven't already done so, do not purchase any gear or boat until after the kayak lesson. After the lesson you will be able to make informed money-saving decisions and maybe save yourself a trip back to the store.

Waterfront Camping, Evening & Morning Paddle, Breakfast Buffet - Sept. 21, 22

Lots of beautiful waterfront property on Bledsoe Creek to camp, easy launch site for kayaks and, after a Sunday morning paddle, breakfast buffet at Shady Cove Marina. If you want to paddle and not camp, a separate event will be posted for the breakfast paddle. The evening paddle is reserved for campers only. Bring something to share for Saturday evening supper. Community firepit and I'll provide the wood. Bring your tent, camp chairs and kayaks. The event cost is $15 to camp PER TENT, limit four per tent. Rental kayaks available at one charge of $30 to use for the whole time. If you rent, please put a note to help me keep track - there's 17 kayaks available. If you are renting, please change the amount to $45 - $15 for camping and $30 for renting a kayak. Bledsoe Creek is a local magnet for fishing so feel free to bring your rod and license. No need to pack much food - there's two restaurants within hollering distance. Also just two miles away is a gas station that sells ice and opens early for morning coffee and a Dollar General also two miles away in case you forget anything. Outdoor shower, portapotty that actually smells good, water source in the field. No electricity at campsites. If you require electricity for overnight usage, please kindly kick in a little extra because it'll be on my utility bill. There's a couple grills available to share, one propane and one charcoal with the charcoal and propane provided. One of the campsites has a deck on which to put a tent - if you want that spot, you better come early! For Saturday night supper, I'll provide a canopy, folding tables, plates, napkins, forks and spoons and potato salad for all. There'll be sign-ups for each paddle at the event so we leave no paddler behind. Kid friendly event but they won't be allowed on Saturday evening paddle. Sorry. No dogs, no exceptions. I'm sure yours are well behaved and you might even offer to keep yours in the tent but it's not your dog I'm concerned about - it's my two. They're working dogs and would see your pups as intruders. My dogs are people-friendly but not dog friendly. Don't be a doofus and ask. Thank you. OPEN THE GATE when you arrive and please close it all the way so the cows don't escape. Last day for refunds: Friday, Sept. 13. No call, no show, no refund. This is a rain or shine event.
