Wat we doen
The Ukulele Rebellion has begun! Join us at our various monthly meetings (and other events).
We are an educational group, seeking to teach beginners and beyond to play the ukulele. Our primary songbooks are The Daily Ukulele (the Yellow Book) and The Daily Ukulele Leap Year Edition (the Blue Book) published by Flea Market Music.
We also play some songs from chord/lyric sheets that can be downloaded (see below).
We ask for a $5 donation per meeting to pay for Meetup.com site maintenance and other expenses.
If you can print out your own copies of the "alternate" songs from the Files section of the group (Under "More" above), that would be fabulous! The songs for each meetup that have been requested (both new and old) are in a file with the meetup's date. The whole book is under "Rebellious Songbook." The Xmas songs are under "Rebellious Xmas Songs."
Thanks, and we hope to see you strumming along with us.

Andronico's
At Second Monday at Andronico's, we take turns picking songs out of the The Daily Ukulele (Yellow Book). Park in the back parking lot and enter Andronico's through a back door on the far left side as you're facing the back of the building. We'll be meeting in a room with tables and chairs situated between the back parking lot and the checkout area. Food (including bakery snacks, a deli counter, a hot food bar, and a salad bar) is available at Andronico's. Bring your instrument, your voice, your Aloha, and a table stand or music stand (if you have one).

La Promenade Cafe
It's time for our monthly meetup at La Promenade Café! Please bring The Daily Ukulele (the Yellow Book) and The Daily Ukulele Leap Year Edition (the Blue Book), your instrument(s), a floor or table music stand, your singing voices, and your fabulous ukulele spirit! We'll begin with a couple of warm-up songs to be posted soon. After that, we'll go around the room so that everyone can pick songs to play. If you pick a song, you will be encouraged (but not required) to lead it. If you'd like to let the group know in advance which songs you plan to select, please post the songs you choose in the comments, and we'll play one of those songs each time it's your turn to pick a song. You can also brings songs to share that are not in the Yellow Book or the Blue Book; just please bring enough copies of the sheet music to share. A donation of $5 to defray Meetup website costs is appreciated. To thank La Promenade Café for hosting us, everyone is encouraged to purchase some of the cafe's fabulous food and beverages.

San Francisco State University
We have been invited to perform again at the annual Spring Festival Gala at San Francisco State University, sponsored by chapters of the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars (ACSS) located at five San Francisco universities. We have been asked to perform two songs and I'm planning for us to play Hanalei Moon and The Moon Represents My Heart (in both Mandarin and English), and we'll have hula dancers for both songs. The event begins for performers at 6:00 p.m. with complimentary dinner. Last year, we were scheduled to perform at approximately 8:30 but we ended up performing much later, so I'm unable to give an exact time frame. If you sign up, please be prepared to spend the evening there. This is a performance, not a meetup jam, so please do not sign up if you would be unable to commit to one or two rehearsals sometime in January or if you're not sure that you could actually attend on February 8. Please contact me directly (marksegelman at yahoo.com) if you have any questions.
