Old Sodbury Midnight walk under a Full Moon (2 to 3 miles)

As it is a Full Moon on the night of 13th October, I am organising a midnight walk for anyone interested. The plan is to meetup at Old Sodbury church between 11pm and leave for the walk at 11.15pm on 13th October and go for a walk up to the old Roman Hill Fort, stopping there to make the most of the stars. Hopefully we will have clear skies for star gazing and moon gazing throughout the walk. Please bring warm clothes and it could be muddy so you may want a change of shoes. With the full moon this means you will not need any torches.

Mountain Biking at Ashton Court and Leigh Woods near Bristol

Ashton Court, Abbots Leigh Road,

Meet outside Ashton Court Golf Course café (there's a big car park there, cost is £1.20 for the full day) We can do the Ashton Court trail first and then go down to Leigh Woods. All standards and bikes are welcome (excluding road/racing bikes), hybrid bikes with the wider wheels and front suspension or mountain bikes are recommended though. The trails are not as challenging as the Verderers intermediate trail at Cannop in the Forest of Dean but there are some nice technical bits with lots of turns and a few bumps and dips. We can go around the circuits once or twice depending on how individuals feel meeting at the cafe later. There are a couple of Red grade skills sections to try out too if you like. Bikes and helmets can be hired from Ashton Court if you don't have one, it will be essential to have one of these. See http://www.pedalprogression.com/ I recommend hiring a bike for 3 hours = £20. Helmet hire = £4. (Bike hire includes helmet hire for free). We'll go around the trails with short breaks or no breaks between sections. The trails are pretty well marked out so no one should get lost :-) Also we can do each section as fast or slow as you like, waiting at the end of each section for the last person in the group to catch up. Alternately if we have more experienced riders who want to zip off, they can go at their own pace and we can then catch up at the end. There is a café for warm drinks and food afterwards :-) As always I will have a first aid kit with me but would rather not need to use it. By taking part in this we all do so at our own risk and we each take on responsibility for our own safety and any injuries if we fall off. This event will be in conjunction with the Stroud and Cheltenham groups.
