Wat we doen

This edition on Wednesday 13th of March will be about the implementation of Azure platforms and Data Science.

During this interesting meetup the focus is on making businesses data driven on a higher level. From a technical and non-technical point of view.

18:30 Doors open + Burgers
19:00 Paul Dreef – Manager Data Management and Analytics
20:00 short break
20:15 Majid Bahrepour – Lead data scientist
21:15 Drinks

Bringing the data to the people of all non-technical departments must be the goal. The chaos of (excel)-sheets (with all different calculated measures) in a company is the driving force to change the mindset. Big-data platforms of today are capable to deliver at any time or anywhere the information business analysts needs them. Also the transformed insights (made by data-scientists) can be calculated on these platforms, and incorporated in the software and insights decision makers are using.

The next step is bringing data science to a higher level from technical and non-technical perspectives. In the technical perspective, the platform (cloud-based vs. on-premise), types of data analytics (structured, non-structured, predictive, prescriptive, etc.), data science methodologies, and automated feature engineering and machine learning are discussed. From non-technical aspects, team forming, people and changes, data democracy, etc. are discussed and presented.

Paul Dreef – Manager Data Management and Analytics
Paul has over 20 years of experience in IT of which is over 12 years in data engineering and digital platforms. Paul has both hands-on experience (ETL, Datawarehousing, Dashboarding, Programming(Python/C#/Web)) as well business operations. Paul knows what “the business wants”, and he can turn it into technical environments. From his teachers perspective he is focused on educating the people who consume the information. ICT is not the owner of the data, the consumers are; so his goal is to teach the consumers of analyzing their own figures. Paul lives for the phrase “data for the common people”. Data is not something technical, we are data!

Majid Bahrepour – Lead data scientist
Majid Bahrepour has over 22 years of experience in IT of which is over 12 years in data science and digital transformation. Majid has both hands-on experience (Python, PySpark, R, Data Pipelines, etc.) as well as business background (translating business to data science, writing proposals, requirement gathering, etc.). He has gained his experience through both academic track (A PhD degree with publishing over 20 scientific papers in data science) as well as his background in business and management consultancy. He also recently obtained his senior membership title from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Majid’s focus is currently to help businesses to benefit more from being data-driven as well as bringing data science to a higher level within organizations.
