What thread broke first: the knowledge or the chain? | Tech & Design Meetup
Details
Textile: between lost craft and scalable technology.
The chain broke. And two people are rebuilding it from opposite ends.
One goes back to the field: hand-processing flax in Gijzenrooi, mapping what was lost, confronting the gap where an entire spinning industry used to be. The other stays in the industry: partnering with the deep-tech companies that turn textile waste into premium fiber and guarantee old polyester becomes new polyester, at a scale that actually moves the needle.
Featuring
Linde van Vlijmen (Back to the Flax / Design Academy Eindhoven)
Social material designer: recovering lost knowledge and designing the system, not just the material.
Marc Evers (EE Labels / EE Exclusives)
Fourth-generation director of a family textile company rooted in Heeze for 125 years: keeping textile alive in this region by betting on the technology that scales.
Both believe the textile industry can regenerate. But they are not starting from the same place, working at the same scale, or asking the same questions. That is exactly the conversation we want to have.
Expect bold ideas, honest dialogue and an open conversation with the audience.
The Q and A is not the afterthought. It is the main act.
Whether you work in design, tech, fashion, sustainability, policy, or are simply curious, you are very welcome.
