🏰 Maastricht + Valkenburg Day Trip by Meet&Vamos 🌞

Hey guys! For everyone still around in Amsterdam and not off on vacation — we’ve planned something a little different this time 🌞
We’re heading south, to the edge of the Netherlands — where the landscape gets hilly, the towns get quainter, and things start to feel a bit like Belgium or France 🇫🇷🇧🇪
Think castles, caves, cobblestones, and golden hour drinks by the river.

📍 Meeting Point
Amsterdam Centraal – 9:00 AM
We’ll meet outside the main entrance and catch the train together. You can also meet us straight there in Maastritch’s station. From there we will hop into a train together to Valkenburg.

🏰 Valkenburg: Castles, Caves & Cute Streets
Looking for WWII and medieval vibes? We will be exploring together this super cool town, and stopping by in some spots to do activities. Just as a reminder, activities are optional, feel free to skip them if you wish. Besides, we might not have time to do all of them, and if that is the case we will all decide together what the group feels most like doing. Among these we have:

• Castle Ruins: We’ll climb up to the only hilltop castle in the Netherlands for some epic views.
• Visit to velvet caves: (If available once there). Eplore secret tunnels, wartime stories, and even medieval graffiti 👀
• Cave riding: (If available once there). Yes, it is what it sounds like. You will be riding bikes 🚲 inside caves 🤯 An awesome experience that could only happen in the Netherlands 🇳🇱
• Laser tag in the caves: (If available once there). Ready for the underground war? A cool laser tag battle beneath the surface: just awesome 😎
• Ziplining and other: There are plenty of other options including absailing in the caves, ziplining (outside), and so on. Once we are there we can take a look at what will be available and what do we want to do.

Please note, we will not make reservations for any of these activities. This means, it is possible many of these activities are not available when we get there. It depends a lot on their capacity and what we feel like doing. That’s why we will check in the entrance if its possible to do them.

After that, we’ll grab lunch in the town center, it’s full of charming cafés and sunny terraces. Make sure to try the famous Limburgse vlaai if you’re into sweets 🥧 and other local broodjies.

🚉 Back to Maastricht – Around 3:00 PM
Now it’s time for a totally different vibe. Maastricht is one of the oldest and most unique cities in the Netherlands — super walkable, full of cozy squares, old churches and cool shops.

🏙️ Afternoon in Maastricht
We’ll take a chill walk through the historic center and explore:
Vrijthof Square – with live music and local cafés
Bookstore in a Gothic church – one of the coolest spots in Europe
Sint Servaasbrug – the oldest bridge in the country
Basilica of Saint Servatius – with legendary “keys to heaven”!

🍷 Drinks by the River – Golden Hour Edition
To wrap up the day, we’ll head to a terrace by the river for a well-deserved drink.
This is where we chill, chat, and enjoy the moment 🌅

🚆 Train Back to Amsterdam – 6:30 or 7:00 PM
We’ll head back together with full hearts and good memories. Nothing too rushed, just a beautiful day shared with great people.
