This is a virtual Meetup suggestion. I am trying to start a Creative Reuse Center here in Nashville. I have started a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CreativeReuseCenter And would like to get as many people on Facebook as possible to "Like" the page. I would love to plan a Volunteer Nashville meetup once we have a site selected. A Creative Reuse Center is going to be a great asset to our community!

Rescued Animals Need Volunteers

I saw this on the news last night. Blankets and towels can be taken to their location in Lebanon. Please read all. For more information on how to volunteer, contact the organization by email, [masked]. Dozens of wolf-dog hybrids have been rescued from the home of their recently deceased owner, who according to officials was a convicted animal abuser. The Animal Rescue Corps was called to a property in Ohio County, Kentucky on Friday. The dogs were found to be living in what Officials from ARC called "horrible conditions." Investigators said the owner of the dogs had recently died and had been convicted of animal abuse. Officials from ARC said a field team assessed the situation and would assist in placing the 24-dogs in animal shelters. Some of the dogs were scheduled to be transported to an emergency ARC shelter in Lebanon, Tennessee. Scotlund Haisley, President of Animal Rescue Corps, said his group also gained custody of the 128 dogs rescued from a Monticello, Kentucky puppy mill on September 19. "It's rare that we actually have a rescue come on top of an existing rescue," said Haisley. "It happens, but probably once every couple of years." He said 128 dogs would soon be placed with various organizations to adopt them. Volunteers spent most of the day getting the latest rescues nursed back to good health. Animal Rescue Corps said it needs monetary help, along with blankets and towels. Organizers said supplies could be dropped off at 200 Carver Lane in Lebanon. Donations could also be made on the group's website, animalrescuecorps.org.

Thistle Farms

Several opportunities at Thistle Farms: Get a group together and do a T-Shirt Harvest. Collect 100% cotton t-shirts in the days and weeks prior to a visit to Thistle Farms. Bring those t-shirts (washed twice without detergent) with you when you visit, and we will sit together in a circle and cut them up to be used in our handmade rag paper recipe. Drop-offs must be scheduled. While there, check out the Thistle Stop Café. ◾Do you own a truck? We occasionally have a need for someone to help load and transport items for our residences or graduate homes. ◾Are you good with machinery? Our sewing machines need occasional repairs and upkeep. For questions, or to schedule a drop off time, contact Stacye at [masked].

Fence build for dogs on chains

Hi folks. I know money is stretched thin with all these causes, but if you are willing, please give $10 to help "Dogs Deserve Better" raise $500 to build a fence and get a dog off a chain...one dog at a time. The fund raiser for the next build is below. If you would be interested in joining this team, please let me know. The builds are usually in high crime areas, so keep that in mind if that is something that wouldn't suit you. Thank you! http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/-cash-chained-in-tn-needs-a-fence-to-be-free/332882 The date of the fence build will be set once we raise the funds.
