Also, someone posted about Vim.  There is a Windows port of vim or at least a variant available with Open Watcom (http://www.openwa...­).  My personal favorite as far as a programming editor is SciTe (http://www.scinti...­).  It's highly customizable and cross-platform portable.  Have seen some utilities and customizations to use it with Ruby as well.
