Ruby 2.0 and Rails 4.0

Hello Rubyists -

All skill levels welcome! This month, we do not have a presentation lined up, and I thought we could discuss the new features in Ruby and Rails (I think someone suggested this last meeting). It would be great if we each could take one item that has changed in the new versions, research it, and be prepared to talk for just a couple minutes about it. Links to the changes are below. Also, new versions of Bundler or RubyGems might be interesting to discuss. If you want to claim a topic, edit this agenda or leave a comment below. I will choose Ruby keyword arguments for my topic.

Ruby 2 Release Notes

Rails 4 Release Notes

Matt Rose - Ruby keyword arguments

Derek Haynes - Rails 4 Turbolinks

Steve Schlotter - Russian Doll-caching

Loose Agenda:

6:30-7:00 - introductions/discussion

7:00-7:30 - presentation and discussion.

7:30-8:00 - discussion

8:00-8:30 - picks and planning for next meeting (presentations? discussion topics? Suggestions for agenda structure, etc.?)

See you there!

    Hey all,

We have room for a bit more Rails 4/Ruby 2 conversation starters. No need to be an expert - just enough to introduce a cool topic and start a discussion.

Installing rbenv on Ubuntu? Pretty well covered, but works well for me.

I'm curious if Rails4/Ruby2 is vulnerable to the JSON parser (CVE[masked]) and parameter passing (CVE[masked]) security vulnerabilities that have hit Rails2&3. Have any of you had to scramble to patch your systems running Rails3? Do you know if/how these were addressed in Rails4? How do you run your security tests on your production Rails servers?
