Part of the 2019 Winter Is Here Series πŸ”₯ Cool! πŸ™‚Read on...the usual spiel follows. Are you a beginner at using Node.js and/or JavaScript? Are you wanting a refresher? Are you looking to level up your knowledge? We don't have set classes, and as such it is considered a self study program. The NodeSchool organization has a lot of workshops for you to learn from, and we help out along the way, but that doesn't mean you have to do the workshops, we are a diverse group of people learning and growing together. Bring your laptops and, if you can, have Node.js installed before you arrive. It's time for another session of learning! We have regular mentors to help everyone learn. But we can't ever have too many people who want to help others learn, right?! We promise that by the end of the session you'll know enough to help the person sitting next to you learn too πŸ’ͺ RSVP "yes" and come learn and/or help others learn Node.js and/or JavaScript over a casual Saturday afternoon!

No contribution is too small β€” bug fixes and documentation updates are valid ways of participating. Can’t make it to this event? Hacktoberfest is virtual and open to participants from around the globe. Sign up to participate today at https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com. AGENDA Q&A PANEL Hear from some of the best open-source developers in town: - Brent Vatne (Software Developer @Expo) - David Luecke (Creator of Feathers.js) - Stephen Belanger (Node.js Dev @Elastic, Node contributor) WORKSHOPS - Intro to Pull Requests PR - TBA - Best Practices in Open Source - TBA Interested in doing a workshop? A new session for the 2019 Fall is Here Series 🍁 In open source, we create with open and distributed collaboration between peers. Contributors are the awesome people who make code or non-code contributions to a project! We'd like to make it easier for people to do this. ## Who is this for? Whether or not you have contributed to an open source project, this is for you. Existing contributors will share practices of getting started contributing in open source. People who want to get started are coming to learn. Everyone will work on their open source stuff in a community setting and help other people do so too πŸ’› ## Prepare Bring your laptops and, if you can, have a Github account with a complete profile (photo, tagline) ready to go before you arrive. It's time for another session of learning! ## Mentors We have ongoing mentors to help everyone learn. But we can't ever have too many people who want to help others learn, right?! So we always welcome new mentors. ## The Plan * We're working through a curriculum to get you from "What is Github?" to publishing an open source npm module πŸš€πŸ“¦πŸš€ * We'll walk through two different projects (https://github.com/nodejs and https://github.com/nodeschool workshoppers) * We'll discuss open source culture * We'll bring some issues we plan to work on. You can work on those with us * We'll help maintainers respond to issues and requests * We'll do our typical open source stuff and help people join in too ## See you soon! If you want to learn and/or help others learn how to contribute to open source over a casual Saturday morning, RSVP yes! πŸ’–βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹βœ’οΈπŸ–‹πŸ’–
