Tell us a bit about your interests in reading. Be specific.

Reading is a joyous constant in my life. Reading places me squarely in a 'still point of a turning universe' - that 'place' where I can, miraculously, travel without must be one of those quantum mechanical things...I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction, biographies and poetry, science and economics...but discussions with people as passionate and committed to learning as I am can only enhance my life, and I hope theirs as well. I love learning about new authors, new fictional styles, new music, and new drinks. Looking forward to meeting people of like mind. I suppose my primary focus is modernist and post-modernist novels and poetry.

What are preferred locations and days/times of day for you?

Quiet places, with some refreshments (coffee, tea) and comfortable chairs. Any day works

Are you strictly interested in discussing novels? What about short stories, poetry, plays, children's lit., nonfiction, etc?

Mostly novels, some short stories, some poetry and non-fiction. Not interested in childrens literature per se.

Re: your Profile [1] A recognizable pic of your face helps, no pets etc. Worried about privacy? Then no pic [2] Give us a bit more than just your first name, like last name initial...? [3] Handles/aliases are a distraction/burden on others. All fair?

All fair.

Hello all, my name is John. I have a BA in English (LSUNO). One of the most challenging professors I had opened my first class of his by saying "I presume everyone here likes to read?" Many got up and left; to their great loss. I love to read.

What John K M. is saying about this Meetup Group

Need more participation. Guy and Lauren both explained that the paucity of attendence was chiefly due to the book...
