Announcing a new Meetup for The New Orleans Book Club Meetup Group!

What: For March : APPROACHING THE MAGIC: MEMORIES OF WALTER ANDERSON - Agnes Grinstead

When: Saturday, March 20,[masked]:00 AM

Where:
Cafe Nicaud
632 Frenchmen St
New Orleans, LA 70116
[masked]

For March 20 (third Saturday again), we read APPROACHING THE MAGIC
HOUR : MEMORIES OF WALTER ANDERSON, by Agnes Grinstead, 1991.
Walter anderson was a painter, writer, naturalist, native New Orleanian.
Book easily available in local bookstores. As of today, Amazon has 10 copies under $5 before shipping(hardcover and paperback). Let me know if I can order an online copy for you, OK?
Sandy and probably others have expressed an interest in reading New Orleans literature. If after reading ALICE, we can go see the new movie version, well then, after MAGIC HOUR, maybe some of us can plan a road trip to the Walter Anderson Museum in Ocean Springs :))
A customer at amazon.com wrote:
"Walter Anderson had the eyes of a child. His wonderment at the world around him, his passion for recording his love, and his driven personality -- all this makes for fascinating and inspirational and romantic reading. Anderson is being discovered as a true original -- his classical training in Europe and the Northeast is the foundation for his unusual work. I found this account to be as marvelous as the letters and life of Van Gogh. Sissy Anderson's writing is poetic and unpretentious. A classic."
For more info, possible carpool, etc., contact Guy Henoumont at [504][masked] or at [address removed] .
