Looking forward seeing you this Saturday for the discussion. Many of you have RSVP'd.

After the meeting we can reflect on how we can to proceed with further meetings -- times and locations, type of material, discussion format...

The discussion will be in English. We'll start with the shorter piece and see how that works. If there's close to a consensus, we might divide into two groups for the second story, with a possibility for some of you to discuss the story in French.

In case some of you were curious about the original French texts to our two stories, here is a couple of links.

[1]

MAUPASSANT: http://maupassant.free.fr/cadre.php?page=oeuvre

Under Roman numeral one, click on CONTES ET NOUVELLES PAR ORDRE ALPHABETIQUE (about ten lines down);
then click on "APRÈS".

[2] CAMUS: http://classiques.uqac.ca/classiques/camus_albert/exil_et_le_royaume/exil_et_le_royaume.pdf#page59
You might have to scroll down to Page 8 (Contents) and then click on "L'HOTE"

(((Links to the English translations can be found in the announcement page for our meetup Saturday.)))

My experience facilitating group discussions of short stories is that you are not prepared if you have not read the material twice -- which at least one night's sleep in between reading :)
