Enjoy a loop walk around the Jackson Park Golf Course on a newly constructed trail that just opened Valentine's Day, 2013. For a map showing the trail: http://www.seattle.gov/parks/projects/jackson_park/files/perimeter_trail_schematic.pdf
I have not walked this yet myself, but have been assured by the project manager that it is ready for action, so let's explore together!
All dogs ON-LEASH, please! Don't forget your lights, too (although hopefully we won't need them).
Check this page or your email for updates up to the morning of the walk.
Total mileage: Around 2.2 miles
Elevation: The slope varies from flat to fairly steep, and there are some sections with stairs
Mud Factor: Its a new gravel path, so hopefully not much mud, but don't know for sure
Time & Walking Speed: 1+ hours? We will try to set a brisk but not athletic pace - this is not intended to get us huffing and puffing, just moving along.
Parking: You may park for free in the golf course parking lot or along the side of NE 135th St.
Important Notes: It's an adventure because I haven't walked it myself. We'll all be exploring it for the first time. A portion of the walk will be within significant earshot of I-5, and another portion will briefly be along sidewalks of busy NE 145th St.
