Details
About the Hike
Explore this out-and-back trail located near Squamish, British Columbia. Known for its challenging terrain, it offers a rewarding experience and typically takes several hours to complete. Popular for hiking, birdwatching, and snowshoeing, this trail often draws plenty of outdoor enthusiasts. It’s best enjoyed from early spring through late fall. While dogs are welcome in some areas, they are not permitted on this particular trail.
The trailhead is located behind the main gondola base parking lot, with additional parking available at Shannon Falls Provincial Park or in the overflow lot across Highway 99.
The Evacuation Trail can be easy to miss where it branches off from the Sea to Summit Trail, but once you’re on it, the route is straightforward. It winds mostly beneath the gondola and climbs the same elevation as the Sea to Summit Trail over a shorter distance, making it more technical and demanding.
You can hike to the top and purchase a download-only gondola pass for the return. A full gondola ticket costs between $70 and $73. The summit also offers access to additional scenic trails and backcountry routes. For more information, visit: https://bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/stawamus/
