Weekly paddle-Wildwood State Park

We will enter the water within the protected confines of Wildwood Marina. There is limited paddling in the marina, so the majority of the evening's paddle will be on Lake Erie. Weather and wind permitting, we will head west along the coast to check out the shoreline and magnificent properties in Bratenahl. Plan on being on the water approx 2.5 hrs. Please bring your deck light, PFD, and other personal gear you may need

Great meet up- we really luck out w/ weather. It was beautiful and we were just barely finishing loading our boats when the monsoon hit! Many thanks to Karen and John for hosting.

    Wildwood Paddle Update !!!!
I am at Wildwood Park, and walked out on the break wall surrounding the marina. Waves are approx 3-4 ft rollers with a fair amount of whitecaps. Several waves broke across the breakwater as I walked along the north wall. For this reason we have decided to relocate tonight's paddle to the Chagrin River, put in at the site of old livery. We appreciate you're understanding, and hope some of you will join us on the Chagrin River at 6:30.
    Thanks,
    John

John, thx for checking the lake out for the weather conditions, it's very wise to play it safe whenever Mother Nature is involved! I would love to join you guys, but I think I'll have to see you guys another time (see other comment)! :)

Seems the lake is going to be too rough for a safe paddle tonight at Wildwood. Is there any interest in meeting instead at the Chagrin River put-in (site of old Livery off Erie Road)? We could get a nice paddle in on the river. Please respond with a comment if you are RSVPed yes for tonight's paddle so we know who to expect. Thanks.

Hey, I think I'm going to pass on this one for today, in consideration of distance/traffic/boat not on truck right now! I hate to miss any opportunity to paddle with you guys, and I will see you next time! Be safe and have fun!

NOAA has small craft advisory with waves 3-5 feet. I would LOVE to go, but I am going to cancel in light of this.
Possible to reschedule for another day this week (that won’t interfere with CSK paddle)?

    Hello Paddlers,
I am keeping a close eye on the current weather conditions and the forecast for this evening's paddle.
Currently it is raining lightly in Euclid with a moderate wind from the west. The near shore marine forecast is for waves of 3+ feet for several more hours and then diminishing gradually to 1-3 feet by 10 PM
I will drive down to the lake around 5-5:30 and post an update. 3' waves would be too rough for a group paddle tonight.

    Thanks,
    John

Thx John, since I will be driving from Strongsville, it usually takes me about an hour with traffic, any news on the weather from looking at the lake is greatly appreciated!

Sorry, but I paddled my shoulders off while camping at West Branch SP for the last several days. ;-)

Sorry I have to cancel, too. Leaving town way too early Tuesday morning, with way too much to do Monday. Didn't have the out of town plan when I signed up for this. I got my son to take three days off. He doesn't know where he's meeting me yet (Shawnee State Park in PA) or that we're camping and cooking from scratch over a campfire. In fact, he doesn't even know this side of me! No kayak, but we will canoe.

Sorry I had to cancel. It's a good news, bad news, bad news kind of thing. Got my new car! :-) But I didn't get my rack on it yet. :-(. And I have to work. :-(

    Hi Paul,
We always tailor the pace to the group's abilities and comfort zone. Plan on approx. 2.5 hrs on the water, so I would guess approx. 6 miles, but again we will pace ourselves to the individuals comprising the group. This is often hard to do before we know the paddlers for any given night. This will also be a Lake Erie paddle, so weather and conditions will play a deciding factor.
