Checkerboard Day: Lake Valhalla

Join Sierra Club outings leader and fine art photographer Rakesh Malik on a trek to Lake Valhalla.

We'll be following part of the Pacific Crest trail, the original route of the Great Northern Railway, revelling in view of Lichternberg Mountain and Nason Ridge on the way to the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness. From there we'll travel through forest and meadows to the basin containing Lake Valhalla.

Elevation gain: 1500 feet

Round Trip: 11 miles

This is a moderate hike.

Although there is no fee for this outing, we do request a small donation ($1-2) to help keep the Sierra Club outings program going.

Alternate meeting point: Skykomish Ranger station off of Highway 2 at 9:30.

We'll be regrouping at the Skykomish Ranger station after the hike to decide about dinner plans.

Call:[masked] or email [masked] if you have questions. Alternatively feel free to e-mail me through Meetup.

We will have an alternate hike... probably combining our hike with the Heather Lake or Meritt Lake trips. The meeting time and place for carpooling will be the same.

Do you have an alternate hike planned in case this area is still under snow?
