New Meetup: Snow Lake, Gem Lake, and Wright Mtn

Announcing a new Meetup for Eastside Hikers Meetup Group!

What: Snow Lake, Gem Lake, and Wright Mtn

When: Thursday, July 29,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Preston Park & Ride
I-90 Exit 22
Preston, WA 98050

Got Thursday off? If so, let's hike up to Snow Lake, Gem Lake, and possibly Wright Mtn.

Here is your chance to enjoy the hike to the famous Snow Lake without the weekend mobs. I would never go to Snow Lake on a weekend. Once there, we will continue around to the far side of this big lake enjoying the fantastic views as we go. Then it is up the good trail to lovely Gem Lake. For those with extra pep, we will continue up a footpath into a little tarn basin and then up a few hundred feet to the summit of Wright Mtn for some commanding views. A small boulder field to cross, but it is as easy as pie. Maybe a quick dip in Snow Lake on our return.

Stats: 11 miles round trip with 3,100' elevation gain. Moderate social pace. I've done this hike many times, a yearly favorite. There may be a few snow patches between the lakes here and there. Both lakes should be melted out by now. Hiking time will be 6-7 hours.

Meet 8am at the Preston Park & Ride on I-90, Exit 22. We will carpool to the trailhead. No dogs or babies. Outhouse at trailhead.
