July Fiction: The Idiot by Elif Batuman
Come join us to discuss the Idiot by Elif Batuman, a wry and funny first novel where an 18-year-old Harvard freshman develops a crush that may or may not be requited on an older mathematics student. "Each paragraph is a small anthology of well-made observations." We hope to see you at the meeting!

What we're about

If you read a lot of well-reviewed contemporary fiction and nonfiction, then this book club is for you! Each month, our members will vote on a work of fiction and/or nonfiction, mostly from the New York Times notable books list from the past 3-4 years. After reading the selection, we will come together and engage in a lively, in-depth discussion.

The book club will meet midweek in a Metro-accessible location (these days we meet in a cafe in Dupont Circle). If one month's pick doesn't interest you, wait until next month when we choose new titles! Our readers are passionate about books and our discussions are lively, interesting, and enlightening.

Happy reading, and we hope to see you at our future meetings!
