The 23,999th Big Trek to the Vic
With the new year in full swing, it's time to clad thy feet in appropriate walking garments, load up the trekking mule with hiking aparrati, and impart vigour into one's faculties, as we explore the wilds of south Beeston. At just shy of 3.2111122 miles, this walk is gentle on the limbs, but heavy on the imagination (you have to pretend you are in the foothills of the Himalaya, the shadow of the Andes or near that big hill near Bridlington). The walk is laden with high peril such as: the canal bridge of doom - which stands at a lofty 6.4 metres above sea level, the Picnic Bench of Blundering Incapability (ironically maintained by Broxtowe Council) and a Weir built in 1794. After walking for 3.2111122 miles we'll arrive at the Victoria Pub (which is only 50 metres from where the walk started) and consume fine drinks and food in the warmth indoor heating. We'll leave from behind platform 2 of Beeston train station at 2pm and head in the direction of London (roughly south). See you there!
