Let's Go See A Silent Movie!

Ok here is the update...I realize there is a popular meetup already scheduled for this night, however, I do have company coming to town and it happens to be her birthday, so I am changing my plans! The cost is $12 per ticket, and for an additional $5 per person, you can upgrade to a couch! How awesome is that?

Go to their website to buy tickets prior to the show.

If anyone wants to grab dinner before the movie, we are going to Mendocino farms which is less than 1 mile from the theater. It is located at 175 s. Fairfax ave, Los angeles, ca 90036. YELP gave it great reviews, and the menu is a great variety and price for everyone!

This night is a Charlie Chaplin double feature, "The Kid" plus "A Dog's Life." These were filmed in 1921 and 1918 respectively.

In "The Kid," the Tramp discovers an abandoned toddler in an alley, and raises him to become his sidekick in a variety of schemes and cons. It is a moving and hilarious portrait of paternal love, or as the film's first intertitle says, "a picture with a smile, and perhaps a tear..." It is also the landmark work of genius in which charlie the jester blossomed into charlie the full-blooded actor, whose iconic dignity in the face of comic adversity has continued to make him one of our greatest cinematic treasures. Shown before the feature is "A Dog's Life," the 1918 short (33 min) that features the Tramp's sweet misadventures in the conpany of a young pup, who happily watches as Chaplin hides from the cops, taunts hard-faced gangster types, and tries to get the girl!

This sounds so fun...finally some old Hollywood lure to pretend its 1933 with no smog, no texting, few cars, and when movie stars where complete glamor even in there PJS. I think I was born too late sometimes. ha ha, cant wait
