ARRIVE: 10:00 am
SPEECH: 10:15 am (mandatory)
ROLLING: 10:30 am
DISTANCE: 14 miles

ROUTE: Out and back on the W&OD with some minor street riding

Ride Details
This 14 mile beginner (+) ride uses the W&OD trail and a few streets to get us to the heart of Falls Church. We'll pedal at a beginner pace of approximately 10-12 mph. The "+" is due to a few "medium" hills as well as some street riding.

We'll depart Shirlington and head west on the W&OD trail, pedaling until we arrive at the City of Falls Church farmer’s market, approximately 6.5 miles away. With over 50 vendors and rave reviews on Yelp, you’ll be able to load up on fresh fruits and veggies to your heart’s content. Bring your panniers, trunk bags or backpacks and fill ‘em up with some local goodies.

After we’ve shopped to our heart’s content, we’ll bike a few more blocks and try a new-to-us ice cream shop in the heart of Falls Church, Lil City Creamery. Lil City Creamery features ice cream using milk from "uber-pampered grass-fed Jersey cows". I can personally vouch for their Pink Peppermint Chocolate Chip flavor :) They also have hot and cold coffee, fruit smoothies and a kitschy collection of cartoon and comic figures on the wall.

Once our sweet tooth has been satiated, we’ll hop back on our bikes and return to Shirlington……our baskets and bellies full.

The Ride After the Ride
TBD. If munchies at the market and ice cream weren't enough, we may decide to enjoy a burger and a beer back in Shirlington.
