The Ride : Detail

For your riding pleasure, NoVA CBG presents the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail.

The Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail (formerly the Northern Central Railroad Trail) is a beautiful canopied crushed limestone trail that starts in Ashland, Maryland and heads north to the Pennsylvania border. Our destination is New Freedom, PA. Crushed Limestone rides slower than a paved trail and non-road bike tires are necessary. The trail is also "inclined" the entire way to New Freedom, PA.

New Freedom, PA. is home to Paesano's Pizza and Bonkey's Ice Cream and Snoballs.

The lunch plan is to get lunch from Paesano's Pizza in New Freedom PA. And for those that want some dessert, we can swing by Bonkey's Ice Cream and Snoballs (one block away from Paesano's) before heading back home.

Remember, after lunch we ride the declining slope all the way back to the start.

You MUST bring everything you would need to be out on the trail for the day (snacks, water, extra tube, etc...).

On Trail Stops will include:
(a) Monkton Station (& Monkton Hotel Cafe) @ Mile Marker 7 (snack/liquid/look at the train station).
(b) Gnome Village (a "fun" stop) @ Mile Marker 11 (snack/liquid "honor system" stand).
