What is your professional expertise area? (Specific response required)

This profession has allowed me to interact with some of the greatest people on earth, such as the 92 year old Hispanic volunteer who makes her way by bus twice a week to volunteer at a local nonprofit or the nonprofit organization that provides mentoring support for young children and their families. I also love being able to provide training and consultations to improve the skills of volunteer administrators within county agencies which provide critical services to the residents of our county. I enjoy influencing people to do good at no charge, such as getting an international speaker to provide a FREE training (usually minimum of $7500) to nonprofits on how to get businesses interested in their cause, as well as a keynote address to businesses to encourage their partnerships with local nonprofits. The seminar this year was a huge success.

Name a fun thing you'd want to do again. (Specific response required)

Go to a poetry slam (womens or women of color type group) to hear good writing read aloud.

Name one of your proudest professional accomplishments. (Specific response required)

Actually have three: 1) With several other fantastic women, revitalizing a dying women's center in DC during the mid-70s - it was a great learning experience and a joy! 2) Establishing and coordinating the Volunteer Interpreter Program for Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court (it won two NACo awards). 3) Being appointed the first Language Access Coordinator for Fairfax County government (first also in the nation) to set policy and protocol for county agencies in providing quality service to our limited/learning-English residents.

Hi, my name is Angie. I have a great life but also a great job for Fairfax County government as both a Partnership Developer and a Volunteer Resource Coordinator. I also teach foreign languge interpretation skills for FCPS Adult Education.
