Robert, in my case just a single tab of gmail takes down Safari after running for over 24 hours. 2 laptops, 1 desktop, same experience.
Of course, It could be gmail and their js voodoo..

In IE 7 I get to 250 MB mark when I have 25+ open windows. Right _now_ I have 19 tabs with heavy sites open between 2 IE sessions and Task Manager is reporting that iexplore.exe is consuming 116MB

Once I push IE too far, something that I do every day, it stops creating new tabs throwing ~ "could not display this page". And that has something to do with windows shell rather than IE, because when I hit that limit, nothing else opens up, yet everything that is already open runs fine. This has been MY only major grudge with Windows XP for a while. I don't typically push Vista this hard, so no comment there.
