Re: [newtech-1] Mac Desktop App with License Key

Dean, selling widgets was a flop. App stores are a huge success.

Microsoft succeeds when they copy Apple. Apple never tried selling Dashboard widgets.

I wouldn't hold your breath for the Windows app store to disappear before Windows does.

Same as a windows8 app store…..but considering MS abandoned selling widgets for win 7 a long time ago…..i wouldn’t build a business model on windows8 store being around for long….

Cheers,

Dean

It's not an app for mobile. It's an application for the desktop.

Am I missing something here?

Haven't app stores kind of rendered this conversation obsolete?

Absolutely. I mean don't spend too much of your time building a roadblock, because then you start to miss out on the user experience.

Well, I agree and disagree. I'd like to make it a little more difficult. Of course, someone's going to add they key to Surfers Serialz, but I'd like to make it just that much more difficult. I don't want it being rampantly shared. I want to put up at least one roadblock.

Hey everyone,

Never done this before. Could take my own advice and Google it, but I'm sure there will be more results than I can digest, so wanted to get some specifics from friends first as to what I should be Googling for.
