Re: [newtech-1] Any Solution which helps to bring Healthcare cost down

I attended a panel discussion at blueprint health 2 weeks ago.  They spoke about their mission and bringing value through niche products that were consumer oriented.  The gov't is what has pushed this process out so nicely between the Hi-Tech bill and ACA (before all you anti-gov people get crazy, I'm not talking about them developing, but there was no progress in this area until the govt incentivized and pressured docs to implement emrs).  You can checkout NY e-Health Collaborative, as they are trying to build out a centralized platform for data and are working with startups to access it.  You may find some interesting companies that are partnering with them.

If you are seeking an investment opportunity in tech that is already a demonstrated money saver and will explode over the next few years... look at telemedicine.  It's revolutionizing the way medical care is administered throughout the world, particularly leveraging remote areas and bedridden patients.  There are apps being developed where you can click a pic of skin spot and send it to see if it should be biopsied, instead of making unnecessary trips to the doc.  Another that made a big splash was a couple of pediatricians developed an app and attachable iPhone scope for parents to send images of possible ear infections.  Obviously, this would be huge for many parent that have kids who suffer from chronic ear infections... big market with tons of upside.

What's your interest, Apurva?

You should probably check out blueprint health - it's a health tech incubator in SoHo, so I'd imagine they'd have some companies matching those criteria:
