Re: [newtech-1] Creepy Google Issue

Steve, expect this sort of behavior. There are people on the list that tend to read up until a point where they find something to troll about and purposely stop reading.

I'm of the opinion that there's a lot of these large companies working together to share information because it's profitable. e.g., Google, Facebook and Amazon

It scared me to see my Facebook ad's changing based upon my Google searches and even more scarier to see YouTube and other Google specific ads change to searches I done within Amazon.

Ghostery browser plugin is, i think, a useful tool with regards to the issues being discussed in this thread.

Best wishes,

First, some questions; you and your wife were accessing Google from different accounts?

Also, do you share calendars with your wife?

Now, some statements; While I do love technology and the Internet. I do believe its approach to privacy as a whole was summed up by Scott McNeely's quote in 1999: http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/1999/01/17538 The takeaway phrases are:

"You have zero privacy anyway,"

"Get over it."

I personally think that Facebook is creepier than Google as regards to privacy, and those companies are not alone, but like many other people, I struggle with my comfort level with that stance and how much information I'm giving up for these conveniences and features as a whole.
