Skiing and Snowboarding Whistler - Presidents Holiday 2014

Hi All,
The Condo has been booked at Stony Creek Sunpath for February 15th through March 2nd.  You do not need to attend for all two weeks but can attend any amt of time during that window. I will be there the entire two weeks.  The cost per person per night will be $50.  This will include full kitchen, bbq, laundry, hot tub, pool.  It comfortably sleeps 4 with a little wiggle room for more.  If you would like to go please let me know for what dates.  Once we get closer I will put together a spreadsheet that breaks down all timeframes.  I would suggest looking into flights and lift tickets sooner then later to get the best rates.

Condo Accommodations:

I am attaching a spreadsheet that you can book in your days and sleeping choice ahead of time.  This is going to be just tentative until you pay for the space.   Again it is $50 per person per night.  First come first serve.  The earlier you book the better your sleeping accommodations.  No adjustment in cost based on location of sleeping.  If I get more people then booked then I will get a larger condo.

Transportation:

Since we are all arriving at different times and leaving at different times it would be easier to set up individual ground transportation.  The best priced so far is through Whistler via. Pacific Coach Lines.  It is $72 each way.  They pick you up from Vancouver Airport and bring you to the ski resort and back.  I have attached the link below.  Again this can change based on the number of people going and when everyone arrives and departs.  If we get enough people I will research a rental vehicle.  Here is the link below for booking the ground transportation:

Lift Tickets:

Whistler has discounted lift tickets until November 15th.  How it works is you book a certain number of days of tickets and they give you a larger window of days to use them.  You don't have to commit to just specific days.  I have attached the link below for booking tickets at a discount.

Cant wait!!!

Chris

Chris or Josh: how does the mc pass work? What do I need to show the ticket counter?

    February 14, 2014

    • Chris M.

On the mc website there is a forward link to Whistler's website that will allow you to per enter your info to make the process on site quicker. I suggest that. Once here you go to the customer service and they will set you up.

Hey guys - according to Tripadvisor.ca, all hotels in Whistler charge overnight parking fee so be careful when parking your rentals (http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Travel-g154948-s301/Whistler:British-Columbia:Arriving.And.Departing.html)...

Here is another public transportation option:
    http://www.snowbus.com/index.html

They run buses to Whistler from downtown Vancouver, so you would have to take a rapid transit rail from/to airport (additional $10).

    • Timothy

Let me know what the fee is or where to park my car. I'm going to be coming in very late next Friday. Thx

      February 14, 2014

    • Chris M.

I'll talk to them tomorrow when checking in and send you details. Its gong to be only a couple days we have to find off site parking. When josh heads out you van take the condo free parking space.

We are thinking of flying into Seattle and renting a car there to go to Whistler. Tickets to Seattle are half price of what they are to Vancouver. Let me know if anyone is interested in flying into Seattle to coordinate.

Me Tim and Kevin are flying in to SEA on the evening of Fri, Feb 21st, staying until the next thursday morning Feb 27th

    • Chris M.

Cool. The condo has one space for a car. If there is more then one car the priority is for the first arriving car. There is pay parking otherwise per day.

Postponing Hokkaido to 2015. See you at Whistler!

I'm going to be at Whistler Feb 22 - March 1, 2014 with the family so I already have travel and sleeping arrangements taken care of. However, I'd be interested in skiing with folks while I'm there, so please keep me in the loop!

Btw, WAY cheaper to fly to Seattle. It's like 2 hours farther, but the total travel time is less b/c you can easily get a direct flight.

      August 31, 2013

  • Timothy

    did you buy airfare yet?

    August 22, 2013

    • Chris M.

I've booked the condo and bought lift ticket but haven't bought air fair. Looks like its around $600 ish. Will be booking this this month though.

      August 23, 2013

    • Raja

Was thinking of probably flying into Seattle (its half the airfare), have a few friends there, and then driving up to Whistler

What are your Japan trip dates Tim? Are they set in stone? Maybe you could do a multi-leg trip with a stop in Vancouver either before or after Japan...granted you get a nice bonus at the end of the year lol :)

      August 23, 2013

  • Raja

Dont know how long I plan to stay, possibly 4-5 days (or longer if I do some mountaineering). You said it sleeps 4, I'm assuming we're getting multiple condos? I get 25% off lodging with the mountain collective pass I have so if you need to book condos/lodging let me know maybe it'll save us $

    August 22, 2013

    • Chris M.

I'm happy to see such good interest in the trip. I was able to land a 35% discont on the room since I booked it so early in advance. I appreciate the offer though. I am always looking to save the group $ if possible. Look forward to meet you.

Hey anyone interested doing some easy ski tours or doing a multiday ski mountaineering class?

    August 12, 2013

    • Raja

I'd be interested in a ski mountaineering class possibly

      August 22, 2013

  • Francisco

I'm most likely in but I would probably go backpacking for maybe 2 days out in the island or the mountains and stay for one week.

    June 25, 2013

  • Josh C

Hey Chris, I'm possibly in. If I go it will be less than 2 weeks though.

    April 1, 2013

    • Chris M.

Totally. Everyone can go when and for how long they like. No set time frames. I will be there for the full two weeks and people can stay the full two weeks or just for what time they like.

      May 14, 2013

  • Josh C

    Maybe.

    April 1, 2013

  • Chris M.

Yes.. The idea is for anyone who attends to share expenses to bring total cost down for everyone. Costs will vary depending upon how many people attend. The more that attend the less expensive. The only items that are not variable are lift tickets, airline tickets and transportation to and from the airport. The condo and food are flexible depending upon number of people.

    April 1, 2013

  • George G.

Would the plan be to share the 'Whistler Ski Resort' amongst other meetup members to share the lodging expenses?
