This is a great trip for those who want a beginner-friendly backpacking trip.
This is will be a short backpacking trip into Harriman. We will go to Harriman after work, camp out and then wake up bright and early the next morning to commute back to work. for Manhattan people, there is a train leaving from Penn Station at 6:20 pm that connects in Secaucus to NorthBound train that will drop us off at 7:17 pm in Sloatsburg.
The plan is to meet at Sloatsburg train station and drive to a trailhead in Harriman to go camping that night. There's great spot that's approx. a 2.5 mile hike in from the trailhead, good place to camp, grill, and swim in the lake (depending on weather).
There are early morning return trains which will get you into Penn Station as early as 7:24a, 7:54a, 8:32a, and 9:14a.
