From Jim Fischer: Checking John's Bees

From: user 2.
Sent on: Sunday, March 2, 2008 4:47 PM
When: Monday at noon
Where: John's place, 18 Fort Greene Place Brooklyn between DeKalb and Fulton (up the stoop)

The temperature will be in the 50s on Monday, so all and sundry are invited to lend a hand,
and perhaps learn some finer points of the increasingly obscure craft of beekeeping.

1) We will "heft" hives to get a rough idea of weight.

2) We will pop open hives and do a quick stores inventory.

3) We may mix up some sucrose syrup to feed them if they are "light".

4) We MIGHT do a quick look at brood frames to see if we can see larvae,
but more likely, we will look for orienting (newly hatched bees) hovering
in front of the entrance.

Please advise if you can come.
