I frequently ride in Central Park, preferably fairly early in the morning, usually doing two laps of the Park Drive (12 miles), but sometimes using the transverse to miss Harlem Hill (which shortens the ride by about a mile for each circuit), and I am always looking for bicycling partners. I am a "C" cyclist and probably average about 12 mph (much slower on hills, faster on downhills and level stretches), a relaxed, recreational pace so that two laps takes about an hour. If anybody would be interested in joining me, please get in touch. Look forward to meeting you, Jim
Just browsing around meetup and discovered the Maybrook Trail is finished? The Maybrook--paved shared use trail running alongside a dormant MTA railroad track--is the missing link connecting the North County Trail at Brewster to the Dutchess Rail Trail at Hopewell Junction; it's all part of the moniker "Empire State Trail".The group (new york backpackers) mentioned they were to ride this sunday (nov 2020), however I checked the Maybrook trail website and they said the trail was not officially opened as they still have construction equipment and will be officially open in a few months just putting this fyi out there.
Anybody interested in riding from poughkeepsie train station to new paltz (9.5miles on the Hudson valley rail trail via the walkway over the hudson bridge) maybe a quick stop at mohonk gatehouse (1.5miles) then continuing over to Rosendale (7.5miles on the wallkill valley rail trail) ? Peak leaf changing season this week and next.18 miles total one way. I've only done the poughkeepsie to mohonk section two weeks ago.
