- CITY ISLAND RIDE!
Back by popular demand is the City Island ride, only this time.....drum roll please...we'll start from Brooklyn! We'll start in Prospect Park Grand Army Plaza at 10am and stop at 96th street and 1st Avenue in East Harlem at 11am for anyone who wants to join the ride there. After that, we're on to City Island in the Bronx for beer and seafood. For my fellow vegetarians and vegans, we can make a pit stop for Chinese food or pack a lunch since Johnny's Reef Restaurant has slim pickings for us. The ride will be at about a 12-15 mph pace. Bring money (cash only), a helmet, water, a metro card, a patch kit, and a lock. You can ride back to Manhattan or Brooklyn with the group or hop a train home. From Brooklyn, it's about 22 miles each way; from Harlem, it's about 12 miles. For those riding back to Brooklyn, we'll likely ride over Randall's Island and through Queens.
