Every week during the Flatiron School ( semester, 2 students will present a 30 minute talk and then we'll have an hour of networking and discussiong. Every Tuesday from 7pm-9pm!

The talks will range from how to configure your development environment and use dotfiles to using http streams and pushing data. They will be fast and focused.

Akiva Leeder - Syntactic Sugar and Vinegar in Ruby

As Rubyists, we care about the aesthetics of our code. In fact, an appreciation of aesthetics is built into the language itself. We'll look at examples of syntactic sugar and how they encourage good design patterns. Additionally, we'll look at some syntactic vinegar Ruby provides to keep you from doing something stupid.

Jack Nolan - Ways to Learn How to Code

There are 3 environments we'll explore for learning how to code, The Sweat Lodge, The College Class, The Code Class. Jack Nolan has been through them all and will share his thoughts on what works best, the pros and cons of each, and more. If you're looking to learn to code, these are your options.

Last weeks was great and we hope to see even more of the Ruby community in NYC come out and support the newest members! Thanks everyone.
