Refer a Rubyist to a great gig at Infogroup and you will get:

How does it work?

Infogroup will pay a referral fee of $2,000 for the referral of a Ruby on Rails Developer hired by the company. The referral fee pertains to hiring of full-time employees only and will be distributed as follows:

• $1,000 to the NYC on Rails member who refers a candidate subsequently hired by Infogroup. Note: Referral payments are reported as income for tax purposes.

• $500 to NYC on Rails

• $500 to MOUSE (

• Include contact info of your referral, along with resume and/or link to code samples.

Half of the referral award is paid within the first 30 days of the referred employee’s start date. The second half of the award is payable after the referral completes three months of employment.

In order to be eligible to receive a referral payment, your referral must be employed by Infogroup in good standing, at the time payment is to be made.

Referrals will be valid for a period of one year for the referral date.

The ground-breaking Emerging Technology crew at Infogroup is looking for a 4 full-time Ruby on Rails Developers. We’re a NY based team, responsible for coming up with new ways to fuel our clients’ growth in a fun, fast-paced scene. The “skunkworks” team is being led by a Valley start-up vet who sold his last venture to eBay.

This gig is for you if:

What you’ll do:

• Design, develop, test & deploy consumer e-commerce web applications using Ruby 1.9 and Rails 3 on Heroku

• Participate in the full life-cycle of the product, including requirements design, technical design, task estimation, implementation, testing, debugging, creation of development documentation and deployment

• Participate in a distributed team while working independently but in tight collaboration and regular communication with other team members and across teams

Skills & Requirements

What we’re looking for:

• Experience developing web applications in Ruby on Rails

• Familiarity with cloud deployment (Heroku, Engine Yard, EC2, others)

• Familiarity with user experience considerations and front-end development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery)

• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL database environments

• Testing with rspec and cucumber

• Experience using external APIs such as Facebook Connect, Salesforce, Paypal, etc.

• Public developer credentials: github page, Stack Overflow rating, or similar

• English fluency, solid written & verbal communications skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

• 2+ years professional programming experience

• Familiarity with PM tools such as: Basecamp, Campfire, Pivotal Tracker, Github, Lighthouse
