The band will have their annual New Year's Eve celebration at Connolly's. Celebrate in the heart of Times Square with Black 47 and fellow Meet Up members.

We had a great time New Year's Eve watching 2008 turn to 2009. Planning for this year again. Tickets are on sale at www.black47.com or at Connolly's.

Black 47 starts their show at 10:30 PM and plays right through the bewitching Midnight hour. At about 11:50 pm, we leave Connolly's and go right into the festivities of Times Square (minus the crush) Connolly's is really close to where the ball drops and we can go down to the barrier on Broadway for a look. We had beautiful weather last time. Many went back to Connolly's right after - the band was still playing 'til the wee hours of the morning.

There is an NYPD checkpoint at 6th Ave and 45th St. and it gives you easy access to Connolly's. But you MUST have your ticket for the show with you. So if you plan to go, get your ticket early.

We should arrive at Connolly's by 9:30 p.m. There will be an optional pre-Meetup a few blocks away at Eamonn's Bar & Grill, 9 E. 45th St. (between 5th and Madison) starting at 7:30. We'll leave there by 9 and go through the checkpoint together. It's a good bet to get dinner at the pre-Meetup as Connolly's does not like to serve food on the Klub 45 level and space can be limited in the restaurant due to private parties.

The police check is not as intimidating as it sounds. No body scanners or pat downs. Don't worry about the crowds. I for one am very happy for the presence of so many NYPD , New York's finest on duty at Times Square that night. They were so friendly to all. Impressive crowd control.

The same holds true for leaving Times Square after Midnight - the police presence is incredible. There is a very organized disbursement of the crowd afterwards. No pushing, shoving, stampedes. Very orderly. You would not have to worry about your personal safety or being shoved around. A good idea would be to go back to Connolly's right after the ball drops - the crowd will be gone within a half hour.

Tickets are only $20.00

Bring your mate, a date, family and friends. Should be another special NYC Celtic Music Meet Up.
