Some of the top Irish bands and musicians in New York come together once again at Paddy Reilly's (http://www.paddyreillysmusicbar.us/) to support the Andrew Grene Foundation (http://www.andrewgrene.org/) in its continuing mission to improve the lives of the people of Haiti. So we'll join them on this night to help support this very worthy cause.
Andrew Grene, the twin brother of Prodigals founder and leader Gregory Grene, was killed in the earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, while working in the country on a UN mission. But Gregory has kept his brother's spirit--and work--alive through the Andrew Grene Foundation, which funds education and economic development projects in this impoverished island nation. Among other projects, the foundation operates the Andrew Grene High School in Port Au Prince.
Meetup starts at 6 p.m. at the Fáilte Irish Whiskey Bar (http://www.failtebar.com/). We'll head to Paddy's around 7. Here's the lineup at Paddy's:
6 p.m.: The Melodic Miners (http://www.melodicminers.com/)
7 p.m.: Allen Gogarty (https://myspace.com/allengogarty)
8 p.m.: The Mickey Finns (http://www.themickeyfinns.com/)
9 p.m.: Padraig Allen (http://www.mcleanavenueband.com/)
10 p.m.: Mary Courtney (http://marycourtneymusic.com/)
11 p.m.: The Prodigals (http://nyireland.com/prodigals/)
I'm not sure of the suggested donation at the door, but figure $10-20. I imagine there will be raffle tickets available for various items as well. All proceeds--100%--will benefit the foundation's programs. The foundation's administrative costs are underwritten by a generous donor so your donations will go to programs on the ground in Haiti.
It should be a great night of local Irish folk rock music and fellowship, and it's all for a great cause, so I hope you'll consider joining us.
If you're not able to join us for the concert, please consider making a donation to the foundation at:
