From: Cathy
Sent on: Tuesday, April 1, 2008 6:58 PM
Announcing a new meeting for The Metro NYC Environmental Meetup!

What: Help keep the Greenmarkets on the UES!

When: Tuesday, April 8, 7:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: Anyone who supports local food and fight sprawl in agricultural areas

Why: To support the Upper Green Side and local greenmarkets!

Meeting Description: Help keep the Greenmarkets on the UES!

Greenmarket Renewal Meeting

Join the Upper Green Side as they need ALL Greenmarket supporters to come out to help argue before the Community Board that the license for the two Upper East Side Greenmarkets should be renewed. They are also looking at a potential new site with the Council on the Environment of NYC (CENYC) to see if it can support a greenmarket there.

There are (surprisingly) members of the Community Board that will seek to block the existing market renewals and any potential future sites. The Upper Green Side has plenty of support from the general community on this and petitions to prove it, but we need people at the meeting to actively argue for them to carry the committee vote. Please come to the meeting and support local and environmentally friendly agriculture.
