1)
Just a friendly reminder about guidelines for the Metro NYC Environmental Meetup
*OFFICIAL group events will be highlighted in GREEN and you'll be able to RSVP.
*Events on the calendar in YELLOW are posted for your REFERENCE only(No RSVP option=Not an MNYCEM Event). If you'd like to participate, have questions or to find out the full details on the event including any cost, contact the sponsoring organization posted. We try to create an environmental hub on our calendar to inform folks of what's happening in the area. You can also post on the message board to see if others might want to accompany you.
Want to post about an event?
*If there are ever any events you'd like to see on the calendar, please email them 5 DAYS PRIOR to the event with the subject line "MEETUP EVENT" and/or post them to the message board or mailing list.
Non-Profits
*If you would like to advertise an environmentally themed meeting, group or event for a non-profit, you are encouraged to use the message board.
Businesses
*Posts for business services are prohibited without the permission of the organizer. If you're interested in posting a for-profit event or sponsoring the MNYCEM, please contact Cathy for details.
*Lastly, please be considerate do not RSVP for a space limited event and not show up. You prevent others from having the opportunity to attend and prohibit the group from being able to reserve spots at future events. The volunteer workshop last on Wednesday had 8 people signed up and only 3 attended-not cool. Remember to update your RSVP to no if plans change and after 3 no shows you can't RSVP for space limited events until you show up and if you have 4 you will be removed from the group.

Take Back the Tap New York
Protecting Your NYC Water from the Watershed to the Faucet
New Yorkers know that their tap water is some of the best in the world. Food & Water Watch and Riverkeeper are dedicated to making sure it stays that way. Both organizations will work with city government officials and local institutions to rid their institutions of bottled water and ensure that public water fountains are upgraded and maintained. In addition, restaurants will be encouraged to sign a pledge to switch to serving only municipal tap water and help educate customers about the benefits of tap over bottled water. Some restaurants have already joined the movement
