Something there is that loves a wall…if it’s a green wall that is! Whether it is created for personal or commercial use or because it’s an efficient and beguiling use of urban space, or just because it reminds us of our ancient cliffside dwelling tendencies or picturesque New England stone hedging, green walls are in, along with their cousins, green roofs. Our speaker will clue us in to the construction, plant selection, maintenance requirements and uses of this new horticultural phenomenon.

Hanna Packer holds certificates in horticulture and landscape design from the NYBG where she teaches classes in green wall and green roof design, She is also senior designer at the Manhattan landscape design firm of Town and Gardens Ltd where her garden and green wall and roof design projects have won several awards.

About the Indoor Gardening Society...

IGS is a great way to introduce adults and children to the importance of green plants. The more you know about botany and growing things, the more you understand their impact on every aspect of your life and their importance to human survival. Plants beautify your home and freshen the air in it. They are determining factors in many aspects of human history and development. Plants will heighten your appreciation of the outdoors and bring it inside for you to enjoy year-round. At each of our monthly meetings members enjoy:

-a lecture or program about a horticulture-related topic

-a plant sale making rare and unusual plants available at reasonable prices

-an exhibition of spectacular specimens often unknown to people outside the plant hobbyist world and often unseen at botanical gardens.

-access to supplies and information that can turn anyone from a novice to a successful grower

Become a member of IGS at your first meeting and receive a free plant on the spot!

-$25 yearly membership includes your entire family
