How did you become interested in permaculture?

nature based design through the integration of arts as well as community gardening initiatives in the Bronx, NYC and now Staten Island

If you have taken a Permaculture Design Course, who was your was your teacher and what year did you receive your certification?

not yet, experience gardening and working with gardeners and setting up urban and suburban spaces to grow food

How are you currently applying the permaculture principles in your life? (Care of people and the earth, fair distribution of surplus, promotion of diversity, cooperation, integration, zero waste, etc.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture)

living collectively and cooperatively, combining resource sharing in order to reduce material impact, sharing information and resources, supporting local food-growing initiatives and greening urban spaces, compost food waste back into soil, and repurposing materials, fixing instead of trashing items

What are some of your favorite permaculture resources? (Books, videos, websites, etc.)

Geoff Lawton's videos, would love to learn more

What are some aspects of life in New York that you would like to see the group address from a permaculture perspective? (For example: land use patterns, the banking and healthcare systems, transportation, housing, community development, food, waste

land use patterns, reclaiming/partnering with public/private space use for vegetable gardening, alternate currencies, home and systemic healthcare, schoolyard gardens and cafeterias, growing food for local use/food pantry and shelters

Introduction
