The NYC Strobist Photographer and Model Collective Pages

WHO THIS GROUP IS NOT FOR

Ours is an "ego-free' / “drama free” group:

  • If you believe that you're an amazing photographer who produces awesome images but can't be bothered with the newbie next to you because you've been doing this for X years --This group is not for you!

  • If you're a model who believes that you are just ONE picture away from being on the cover of Vogue, and are only looking to shoot with the best of the best -This group is not for you!

  • If you are looking to shoot Boudoir or Nude Photography with our group -This group is DEFINITELY not for you!

  • If you're looking to join a group and not ask (or answer) questions -This group is not for you!

  • If you are not looking for constructive criticism of your images and are only looking for praise ...Well. you know the drill!

WHO THIS GROUP IS FOR

  • People of all skill levels with a Digital Camera who want to learn about photography and how to use their equipment in a social setting.

  • People with an interest in Off Camera Flash Photography (Commonly referred to as "strobist" photography - see strobist.blogspot.com for more info on it)

  • People who are interested in learning the "Post" processing of images after the shoot: Photoshop, Lightroom, Photomatix HDR stuff - we can share tips.

  • Models and MUA's that want to get cool images to help showcase their talent, and gain more experience by working with different Photographers.

  • People who are not afraid to say "Can I see your picture?” Cool! Hey, why don’t you try this... "

    A NOTE ON NUDITY/BOUDOIR : NOT ALLOWED

While we can appreciate and understand the artistic aesthetic in Fine Art Nude Photography and Boudoir photography, this group WILL NOT be entertaining either of those genres. The NYC Strobist strives to provide an open environment where males and females alike can further their willingness to learn photographic technique and modeling techniques without stress, worry, or apprehension. You are a member here to learn about the best way to utilize your camera - not to learn about the art of the nude. We are confident that there are other groups in the New York City area that may be able to cater to this need - we will not be one of them.

Any member posting images that fall into a Nude/Boudoir genre will have the image removed (obviously notified, in the event that they are not aware of our position). Any continued posting will have the member removed from the group and their membership forfeited.

In determining what may constitute nude or near nude photography, the Organizers of this group will adhere to Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart's position "I know it when I see it"

(THANKS to Kathy Porupski, Organizer of the Tampa Bay Strobist and Photoshop Collective who wrote the above for her group of which I am still a proud member!)
