• The 2018 Coney Island Mermaid Parade

    Coney Island

This is a self directed meetup. Diane and I will be there and you are welcome to hang out with us if you like. Register to take photos at the parade staging area starting at about 11:00am for great captures. This is the best opportunity to catch great portraits of the parade participants in colorful costumes, the colorful floats and antique cars. If you choose not to pay the registration fee, there are plenty of other opportunities to take photos on the street and along the parade route. Be sure to bring your on/off camera speedlites/flashes and the best camera you have even if it’s a point and shoot! The entrance fee for admission to the staging area for photographers is $50 ($40 if register online beforehand) but if you would like to costume up and join the parade the cost is $35 ($30 if register online). As a parade marcher you will have the opportunity to be photographed and photograph the crowd watching the parade! Please also note that the Mermaid parade is a family friendly event but in the “Artsy” category of marchers, the mermaids and mermen are often found in various stages of creative dress which includes body paint and pasties. If you may be offended by this, please check out the parade’s page at coneyisland.com before RSVP’ing and completing registration for the event. Long lines usually form to buy tickets the day of the event so I would suggest you purchase them in advance. • 2018 Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival

    Rockefeller Plaza

Less organized than most NYC parades, this annual event is really the opportunity for us to capture “paraders” in extreme bonnets and outfits wandering along Fifth Avenue between 49th & 57th streets. The most advantageous area to see the parade is in the vicinity of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The Easter Parade/Bonnet Festival runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and during this time the area along the parade route is closed to vehicular traffic. If you'd like to hang with us, Kevin and Moises will be at the Rockefeller Center Promenade at 10 a.m. where we will have a brief discussion on the use of fill-flash to capture the paraders portraits. Our models are encouraged to dress up hang with us and join the show. Please understand, this is not a Photographer/Model event this year. With Springtime approaching we will start to schedule these type of events more often. Looking forward to seeing you!

  • Photographers Ony - Steampunk Photo Shoot

Margaret Corbin Circle in Fort Tryon Park

Steampunk fashion is a mixture of the Victorian era's romantic view of science in literature and elements from the Industrial Revolution in Europe during the 1800s. The fashion is designed with a post-apocalyptic era in mind. Within the 'theme' of this shoot we are looking to use existing light and your strobes to create steampunk inspired images. We will meet at the circle in Ft. Tryon Park. Please be on time for the shoot. We will be splitting up into teams. Please stay with/around your team and your assigned model. The models will be rotated between each team during the shoot. For each shoot that you attend, you are REQUIRED to upload between 1-3 photos in the group folder for the shoot AND high resolution photos in each models folder within 2 weeks. You can put several in each models folder, but please only select your best shots (please limit yourself to NO MORE THAN 10). We will be limiting the number of available photographers attendees for this shoot. The more models we have attending, the more slots we can open for photographers. If you are unable to secure a spot, please join the waiting list. Please PM me with any questions.
